"A Lada?!?! Why the heck do you drive a Lada?!" - just one of the many questions I am asked when I tell someone that I go offroading in a Lada. This particular Lada is a 4x4 called a "Lada Niva" and it is just amazing what you can do with this thing. This is a webpage that I created dedicated to my Lada Niva that was Given to me by the guy that cuts my hair.

I hope that during your browse through the site that I can open your eyes a little, broaden your horizons, or at least give you a good laugh at some of the crazy thing I've done with this little unit.

Niva News: Lada is off the road for summer :(

Well unfortunatly the transmission in my Lada Niva went - first I couldn't find 2nd gear at all - then every gear but 2nd gear suddently stopped working. So I opted to take the Lada off the road and start driving the FireFly again. Hopefully this will give me time to get the 3.1L V6 into my Fiero.

Niva News: Lada is on the road!

Well after a pile of work over the past months I finally have my new Lada on the road. The body work is far from perfect, the paint doesn't match and there is still some drive-line noise - but its on the road and road legal! I ran into a bit of a problem getting it safety inspected - a ground was loose for the headlight on the passengers side. That was all!

I am still waiting on a few parts such as a U-joint for the rear end, side marker lense covers and reverse and differential lock switches.

There is still no 5th gear but 4th is plenty fast to get in and out of town as well as get around town. Still a pile of work to be done but this is good start and a good milestone.

Niva Projects: Flip #4 (continued)

The exhaust system that we installed has no real muffler, but it has 3 resonators.. it is going to be alot better that nothing - which is what it had on there when I first got it.

Niva Projects: Flip #4

Because one of the pipes that held the rear wheels on broke off - we had to fix it. The easiest way to do this was to flip the Niva again and do the work. We also did an assortment of other things while we were at it.
